When Littleone grows up she wants to be….

She came home this morning and made that announcement for the first time.

She wants to be a Fire fighter!

So I told her that it was a very noble profession and that I was proud of her.
And then I pictured my little baby running headlong into a burning building and I thought, hell can’t you just sell out to the corporate devil or something?!
And then I remembered that she was only three and that perhaps I was taking her revelation a touch too seriously.

Mine has wanted to be an archaeologist since she was eight (she's eleven now). Before that, she wanted to be a doctor and a pilot and a mother. I used to say "go to Australia then, and join the Flying Doctors!"

They are going to change their mind a million times between now and when they are grown up.

My favourite was from when Zach was in grade 2. The teacher and I were trying to stress the importance of math in world. So we asked what he wanted to be when he grew up. "A car wash" We both assumed he wanted to own a car wash. We told him that's good, but you need math to know how much you're earning, how much to order, etc. But no, he didn't need math because he was going to just wash the cars.

The next year he wanted to be an architect.

Who knows what he'll want to be next year!

Geeky Girl wanted to be a firefighter, starting at the age of two. For a year or so, she always wanted to be a firefighter, but she amended it to be a firefighter-ballerina. Basically, she explained that she would wear the firefighter outfit with a tutu. We have the pictures to prove it. Now she wants to be a veternarian.
